Sunday Morning

Sunday, November 14th (Morning)

When we woke up, this is what greeted us outside of the front door.

We didn't see them when we arrived the night before.

If you look closely, the manufactured home right behind the red barn above the horses is where our cottage was originally built.

Here is the view from the back porch.  From what we were told, the cottage ended up someplace way back past the last building in this pasture!

Padding around in the morning, I came face-to-face in the kitchen with the other resident of the cottage:  Sister Pat, a CSJ who was visiting from Cleveland.  Sister Pat is very interested in horticulture and is a volunteer at the Cleveland Botanical Garden.  The three of us had a wonderful breakfast, discussing plants, books (another avid reader!) and just sharing stories over coffee, bagels and fruit.  We then said our goodbyes as Sister Pat had to return to Cleveland and we had made plans to met up with Sister Frances to go to Mass.

We decided to Mass in the Ignatius Chapel on the campus of Loyola University in New Orleans.  (Funny how our lives are intertwined with Loyola.)  After Mass, we did a quick tour of the campus, along with the campus of Tulane University, which actually abuts the Loyola campus.

Driving back to the cottage, we drove though some famous New Orleans neighborhoods, such as the Garden District (known for its grand mansions) and the Upper Ninth Ward (quite possibly the most crime-ridden neighborhood in the city).  But the most fascinating was a tour right across the channel in the Lower Ninth Ward.
